On Thursday, August 11th, 2016, The Detroit Institute of Arts was filled with glamorous fashion and art lovers of all kinds, to attend Detroit’s most stylish social event of the year, Fash Bash. This highly anticipated, sold out runway show is staged by Senior Vice President and Fashion Director Ken Downing, of Neiman Marcus.

The atmosphere:  Guests sipped on cocktails and champagne flutes while mingling with familiar faces and Detroit’s most elite.

From the runway:  The Fall 2016 / Winter 2017 show was a mix of various decades styled with modern twists; an array of coats, from long wool camel colored options, to thick and luxurious furs, to sporty and chic bombers, made a big statement on this year’s runway. Fun details like lots of layers, ruffles, sequins, carried over from Resort/Spring 2016, and tailored 50s styles as well as influences from the 80s and 90s rounded out the show.

Fash Bash brings out the most interesting and stylish people from all over Metro Detroit, as well as NYC and beyond, and we love to see what everyone is wearing. From all white everything; to pops of summery brights, to the always classic LBDs, here are our picks for the most fashionable attendees at Fash Bash 2016:

FB16{From the left}:  Pink Pump Boutique Owner, Kelly Kirkwood and FOX 2 News reporter Maurielle Lue both rocked fresh looks for summer; an all white, ruffled jumpsuit and a blossoming print, mermaid style, purple two piece gown.FB888

{On the right}: Local style blogger Dana Frost, from The Closet Confessional, popped against a sea of black and white in this coral hi-lo dress from Rent the Runway and a pair of gladiator sandals from M.Gemi.

Forget aboutFB12 the LBD,  it was all about the LWD:

MORE LADIES IN WHITE…

Below the ladies from Figo Salon show us that an all-white ensemble is anything but plan with a cropped top and matching skater-style skirt (below left) and beautiful lace detailing (below right).

Lindsey Shaw, shows off all in white,  a sexy and stylish asymmetrical neckline.

Annie Strickland (pictured below left) nailed it in a gorgeous lavender, flower eyelet dress by adding a fun pop of color with red fringe heels and a matching clutch. The evenings Co-Chair, Sarah Ford, (pictured below right), was elegance personified in a white studded, fringe dress.

Elanah Nachman Hunger took Grecian goddess to a whole new level in a white draped dress and a beaded vintage Chanel necklace.

Karen MacDonald Basile, looks beautiful in this sheer, Nicole Miller, flower embellished dress.

MONOCHROME MOMENTS:

You can never go wrong with a classic black and white look! Vivian Pickard and Kiko Davis, below, know how to rock this simple pairing in a fun and unique way with different textures, fabrics, and silhouettes.

Latrice Delgado-Macon, owner and founder of The Styling Closet, looked pretty and feminine in a satin white skirt and bright sparkly shoes.

Emily Kahn from the fashion showroom CD Network wears one of the hottest trends of the season, an off the shoulder top. She rounded off her chic look with a pair of black culottes and sparkly accessories.

Rachel Schostak looks stunning in a white dress from local boutique Guys N Gals, and a pair of high heeled mules. Pictured with husband, Jeffrey Schostak, wearing John Varvatos.

OTHER LOOKS WE LOVED:

Lacey Jacobson and Elliot Foon look classy and sharp in coordinating black ensembles. We love how the triangle cutout and red accessories make her LBD anything but basic!

Nick Rutledge from Neiman Marcus really knows how to put a fun and unique spin on a classic suit with his custom-made, butterfly adorned, jacket.

Karen Buscemi and Lindsey Alexander from The Detroit Garment Group pull off these pretty prints effortlessly!

The group of women below had the strongest shoe game of the night! Together they each pulled off a fashionable trend from left to right, “off the shoulder”, two-piece jumpsuits, flared skirts, and ruffles!

This tailored green gingham/plaid dress definitely stood out from the crowd.

So many trends spotted here! A white off the shoulder top, a sequins encrusted dress, metallic heels, and a classic black and white suit.
