By Mariana Keros

June has arrived and not a minute too early! It signals warmer days, al fresco dining, gallery strolls, celebrating dads and a fresh fashion season in bloom. This month’s list highlights my latest lusts.

Kresge Court at the DIA

Mariana Keros

Conceptualized as a cultural living room, Kresge Court at the Detroit Institute of Arts is one of the museum’s most architecturally stunning spaces and serves as a place for relaxation, creative exchange and social interaction. With desirable menu options, tall library tables installed with iPads and furniture containing power outlets, it’s the ideal spot to get some work done, or just hang. Friday nights, there’s also a full bar with specialty drinks 5-9 p.m. 5200 Woodward Ave., Detroit.

Karen Adams Personalized Stationary

Mariana Keros

In a world of email invitations and “thank-you” texts, a handwritten note sent through the U.S. Post Office is a special occasion! My latest favorite stationary is personalized from Karen Adams Designs. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, her original illustrations are hand finished and created to evoke delight, humor and joy. I just ordered mine at Found Objects. 168 S. Old Woodward Ave., Birmingham.

The Jumpsuit

Mariana Keros

Embrace glam comfort this summer by wearing a jumpsuit. This trendy piece is a must-have for all your out-on-the-town jaunts. From slim to full leg with pockets, it always looks modern and chic. I recommend the jumpsuits from Black Halo. blackhalo.com.

Detroit Grooming Products

If you’re looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift, you’re sure to find it at Detroit Grooming Co. The retailer has the finest handcrafted beard oils and men’s grooming products, which are made in their Ferndale lab. Co-founders Mike Haddad and Shaun Walford are passionate about everything they create, and their assortment keeps growing. Stop by their shop at 2615 Wolcott St. Suite E, Ferndale, or visit detroitgrooming.com.

La Strada Dolci e Caffé

Mariana Keros

When someone asks me where I want to meet for lunch, grab a bite for dinner or get a coffee drink, my go-to is La Strada in Birmingham. I refer to it as “my special place.” It’s such a gem, with a quaint street side location and perfect blend of excellent food and warm hospitality. They serve French press coffee, and a contemporary violinist performs on Friday nights. I was just there for lunch and my friend said, “I feel like I’m out of town!” I repeat, a real find. 243 E. Merrill St., Birmingham.

Feminine Floral Midi

Mariana Keros

With summer upon us, who doesn’t want to feel pretty and feminine? This season’s must-have dress does just that. The garden pattern and fluid midi length will take you breezing through your day. Contrast printed dress, $199, Zara, Somerset Collection, 2800 W. Big Beaver Road, Troy.

The Textile Connection: A Dialogue

Mariana Keros

This is a must-see exhibition at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center focusing on historic textiles and contemporary fiber arts. The exhibit features flat woven fabrics, carpets and historic textile fragments, kimonos, ponchos, tunics, theatrical costumes, hats and baskets. Catch the exhibit through June 7. 1516 S. Cranbrook, Birmingham.

Bolero Hat

Mariana Keros

As I see it, hats serve two purposes: The bad hair day fix, but more importantly, a fun fashion statement. We’ve seen the baseball cap, the knit cap, the fedora, the fisherman, the beret — they’re all great options, but the new look I’m craving is the bolero. With its straight-edge top and stiff brim, it’s classic cool. Straw is nice for summer, but I prefer the black felt. Lovely Bird hats are made in the USA, and hand prepared when you order it. Spanish dancer bolero, $184, shoplovelybird.com.
