Local Birmingham resident Sofia Isabella Lutman, 13, has been cast as “Clara” in the holiday classic The Nutcracker presented by the Academy of Russian Classical Ballet at the historic Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor on Dec. 9 at 6:30 p.m. She will perform alongside professional guest artists and current principal dancers with the Russian National Ballet and Moscow Ballet.
Families can join Clara on her magical journey through the enchanting Land of Snow to the Kingdom of the Sweets. With an impressive cast of talented Michigan ballet students, joined by international professional ballet dancers as guest artists, the Nutcracker is a wonderful holiday tradition to be enjoyed by all ages.
The Academy of Russian Classical Ballet, under the direction of Jessica and Nikolai Morschakov, is located in Wixom. The Academy has been named the “Official Best Ballet Academy” in Michigan and has alumni performing professionally throughout the world. Jessica grew up between Ann Arbor and Brighton, and attended Greenhills School before being accepted to the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C., where she graduated. Together with her husband, Nikolai, she is delighted to bring high quality performing arts to Ann Arbor.
